In recent years, social media has been flooded with videos showing unusual and controversial church deliverance sessions. Some ministers shout at demons, some lay hands on people, while others perform actions that leave many Christians asking a serious question, "Where does genuine biblical deliverance end, and where does human behavior begin?
I recently came across one particular video circulating online shows a pastor placing both hands on a woman's chest during what is described as a deliverance session. The footage has sparked intense debate, with some defending the act as a move of the Holy Spirit while others condemn it as inappropriate and unbiblical.
So, rather than judging any individual or ministry, this article examines one important question: "Does the Bible support intimate physical touching as part of deliverance?"
What Is Deliverance?
Deliverance simply means being rescued or set free from spiritual oppression, evil influences, or demonic bondage through the power of God.
Throughout the Bible, God repeatedly delivered His people—from slavery, enemies, sickness, fear, and spiritual oppression. For Christians, deliverance points to God's power to free people through Jesus Christ.
How Did Jesus Perform Deliverance?
The ministry of Jesus provides the clearest example. Whenever Jesus encountered someone possessed by an unclean spirit, He never relied on unusual physical techniques. Instead, He simply spoke with authority.
In Mark 1:25, Jesus commanded,
"Be silent, and come out of him."
Immediately, the unclean spirit obeyed.
Another example appears in Luke 4:35, where Jesus rebuked the demon, and it left the person without causing further harm.
There is no record of Jesus massaging, rubbing, or touching intimate parts of anyone's body to perform deliverance. His authority came from God's power—not from physical methods.
What About The Apostles?
The apostles continued Jesus' ministry after His resurrection. In the Book of Acts, demons were cast out through prayer, faith, and the authority of Jesus' name. Sometimes they laid hands on people for healing. However, nowhere does Scripture describe the apostles touching private body parts as a spiritual technique. The power always came from God—not from unusual physical contact
The Bible teaches the laying on of hands for several purposes, including:
- Healing the sick.
- Blessing believers.
- Appointing church leaders.
- Praying for others.
But biblical laying on of hands was done respectfully and appropriately. Scripture never instructs ministers to touch intimate areas of another person's body during healing or deliverance.
When Deliverance Crosses The Line
Unfortunately, not every action performed inside a church automatically represents biblical teaching. History shows that some religious leaders have abused spiritual authority to manipulate followers.
When a minister claims that touching someone's breasts, buttocks, or other private body parts is necessary for deliverance, Christians should carefully compare that claim with Scripture, because Faith should never remove personal dignity as God does not require humiliation before granting freedom.
Can God Still Answer The Prayer?
This is an important distinction as Christians believe God can answer sincere prayers because of His mercy and power, not because of questionable methods used by people.
In other words, if someone genuinely experiences healing or spiritual freedom after prayer, it does not automatically mean every action performed by the minister was approved by God, whose power should never be used to justify behavior that lacks biblical support.
Testing Every Spiritual Practice
The Bible repeatedly encourages believers to examine teachings instead of accepting everything they see. So not every statements from a spiritual leader should be accepted as you should make your own research thereafter.

These passages remind Christians that genuine faith includes discernment. Churches are places where people seek hope, healing, and restoration. Many who come for deliverance are emotionally vulnerable, that is why ministers carry a great responsibility to protect those under their care.
Practices that blur personal boundaries can damage trust, bring confusion, and even drive people away from genuine faith. Biblical ministry should reflect both God's power and God's holiness..
